Techland Working On Free Modding Tools For Dying Light Users

After inadvertently giving the Dying Light modding community a well-aimed hammer blow to the back of the head with its first major post-launch update, Techland has been busy making amends, starting with official Dying Light modding tools.

In an effort to curb cheating, Techland dealt a blow to many user-created mods last week, as well as DMCA copyright takedowns to their efforts. It’s since admitted this was a mistake, and is looking to bolster Dying Light’s post-launch modding community with free ‘extensive modding tools’.

"Modders were a massive part of our gaming community since Call of Juarez 2 and Dead Island—and we wish to continue that with Dying Light," Techland wrote in a statement. "This invitation is only the first stage of our cooperation with the gaming community. After the modding tools are released, we plan to actively support the coolest mods created by players."

Jon reviewed Dying Light earlier this week, saying “Dying Light is a gloriously violent take on a tired genre. It might cobble together bits and bobs from its peers, but it attempts enough new to make it genuinely unique proposition.”

With the world granted the Dying Light modding tools at its fingertips, what creations would you like to see? With its brutal hand-to-hand combat I’d love it if someone could put together a Condemned mod, what about you?
